The Real Thing

Slowly, but surely they settled in
Routine started to make up their life.
A quick kiss here, a little pat there.
Occasional friction, occasional strife.

There’s no doubt about it, some go searching
for the euphoria that’s felt when love’s new.
Many seek for that wild crazy feeling.
What’s real love? They don’t have a clue.

Real love comes from seeking to please
the person you once put first.
How long has it been, since you did just that?
Since you really, really tried to converse.

Check out that man you vowed to love.
If you think he’s changed, so have you!
That is life, so it will be with another.
So give your man his due.

There’s a lot of passion in that man you love.
He’s hidden himself to survive.
He won’t come out ‘til he’s sure you care.
  It could be ‘The Real Thing’ is alive.

It’s wise to remember when it comes to love,
you can't depend on feelings at all.
It's committment that counts, it's a matter of the heart.
