Taking Care of Business
*"Douglas MacArthur II, nephew of the famous World Ware II general, served in the State Department when John Foster Dulles was Secretary of State. One evening Mr. Dulles called MacArthur at his home.
MacArthur's wife answered the phone and explained that her husband was not there. Not recognizing who the caller was, she angrily complained, "MacArthur is where MacArthur always is on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and nights - in that office!"
Withing minutes Dulles had tracked down MacArthur on the phone. Sure enough, MacArthur was working late at the office. Dulles gave him this terse order: "Go home at once , boy. Your home front is crumbling!"
Very sobering thought, don't you think? If you win a war and loose the family, have you won?

"A child on a farm sees a plane fly overhead and dreams of a faraway place. A traveler on the plane sees the farmhouse - and dreams of home."

"It is your voice, my friend and fellow Dad , that is the most powerful voice in the world...in the lives of your children. No one will have the impact on them that you will have. But isn't that what you've always wanted - to be powerful? To have an eternal impact? You do. When it comes to what they need and what you can offer them, you have what it takes. You are the man."
John Eldredge from his book, You Have What It Takes
