ON BEING A WOMAN

MASKS
By Antje Hill

Do you own one? Those cover-up masks?
The kind that hides who you are.
Life becomes stale, joy quickly fades
When you feel you don't measure up to life's bar.

There's all kinds of masks for people who hurt.
There's spenders, there's pleasers, there's clowns.
For those who pick one, life calls you out,
though life has its ups and downs.

We only live once.  Get rid of your mask!
You're covering up your real worth.
There are those who will accept you just as you are!
There's only one "You" on earth!

Don't try to measure up to another's standards.
Who says they have it right?
Just be yourself with all of your heart.
Take off that mask and walk in the light.

and
share their identity with the world."
