Gordon Creek Rendezvous
By Antje Hill

We walk in to the aroma of freshed baked bread.
The atmosphere is just what we need.
A slow pace abounds, a smile and good food.
And we brought a book to read.

We pick a table that's just for two
in a corner away from the crowd.
We finish our lunch, push back and relax
in this place not so fast and loud.

We open our book with a smile on our face.
What a nice place to be!
Church bells ring in the distance
as our book beckons,
"Spend a few minutes with me."

My husband, my love, found this little hide away
A place to go on a whim.
We settle back to enjoy the moment.
I owe this quietness to him.

I wonder what happens when there's no rendezvous
for those caught up in life's race.
It's just as needed as the air we breathe,
A quiet hide away, slow paced.

"Married life...is a mosaic of little things.
Little touches.
Little words.
Little smiles of encouragement.
Little expressions of endearment."
Nanette Kinkade

Couple note:  Quiet moments  away from your usual environment are so important. These times have to be planned.  They don't just happen. If you don't plan this time, you will miss beautiful bonding times!  I dare you to go looking for a rendevous, as my husband did!  Plan a special hour or so away from the kids and the phone. Hold all cell phone calls unless it's an emergency. It can make you feel really special if your spouse seeks out a place or if  you take the initiative. You think your husband is not the type for such things?  Try him and see! Life is too short to not go the full mile when it comes to your marriage!
