I believe, as Rick Warren, that each of us has a purpose. There is a reason for us being on planet earth. We are not created to be tossed back and forth as the wind of life chooses. Life is too precious for that to be our course. Do you remember the quote that says, Stand for something or you will fall for anything."? That is a lot like life. If we don't have a goal, we follow the path of least resistance. We become a follower, giving up our desires, our passion.
It takes courage to make our own path. It comes with diligence and hard work. Life is a choice. It is up to us to make choices that are right for us. Some aspects of society say success is being rich, young, attractive and famous. If you believe this, I challenge you to keep an eye on people that you believe fit in this category. If these characteristics are what motivates them, happiness and peace of mind will not be a part of who they are. They don't know their purpose.
I believe we were all created with passion, though it may be buried deep within us or it may have clutter piled upon it. Passion is a beautiful thing, when found and put to use! Your passion may be music, writing, children, teaching, building, encouraging, taking care of physical needs of people. The list is endless. That passion came built in to who you are. Go with it. Do research. Talk to people in the know. Educate yourself in what you love. The worst thing you can do is procrastinate. The procrastination thief will rob you of valuable time. It keeps ticking, you know!
It's important to set goals. Plan ahead with good counseling and guidance. Stay on track. Author Les Brown will tell you there are toxic people out there that don't want you to succeed. They want you to stay on their level. Beware of people who pull you down, rather than build up. If you listen, they will be happy to give you loads of fear and discouragement.
Lastly, being a Christian, my biggest source of help has always been prayer; prayer for guidance, prayer for the right people to cross my path, prayer for knowledge and faith to continue. Though there is doom and gloom forecast for this New Year as a whole, could it be this is your year to find yourself? Go for it! Life is too short not to live it with all the passion you possess! That's what Shaw says in his stern words below!
"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one;
the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap;
the being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments
and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy."
George Bernard Shaw
