Bloom where you’re planted. That is a thought provoking statement and a good philosophy for life.A little raccoon recently reminded me of that statement.
We were having major problems with a raccoon eating from our bird feeders. We bought a live trap to catch this little creature as he was responsible for our ever-increasing bird seed expense every month.Early one morning, at the crack of dawn, I arose to see if we hadwon.
There he was, mask and all!We took a closer look. His nose was bloody,A piece of metal on the cage was barely hanging on, indicating his initial unwillingness to accept his fate. There had been a terrible fight for freedom during the night. But it was what I noticed next that interested me.He was resting on a bed of weeds and flower and anything within his reach that he could pull into the cage to make himself more comfortable.
After resolving he truly was a prisoner, he had made the best of a bad situation and hadrested some during the night. As the sun came up, “Bandit” was released a few miles away into
the deep woods of no bird feeders
It helps to remember when our life seems out of control and we feel trapped, that we have a Heavenly Father who watches over us and has our best interest at heart. He is so willing to ease the burdensof life if we settle down and lean on Him.
"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans for welfare
and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
